What to expect in Yoga Therapy sessions?

A yoga therapist seeks to evaluate the client’s unique needs through inquiry, observation, and assessment, while carefully considering subtle contributors, such as -beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and perceived relationship to self and world. With an established therapeutic alliance, the client is free to identify areas they wish to address or goals they aspire to accomplish through yoga therapy. The therapist will develop a plan, tailored to each client, by combining this information with personal experience, biomedical science, research, and yoga teachings.Sessions and home plan practices involve conscious breathing techniques, physical postures (asana), meditation, mindfulness practices, contemplation, vocal sounds, visualization, intention, and affirmation. These yogic tools (de)activate parts of the nervous system, allowing persons to experience calm, relaxation, or controlled stress,
facilitating awareness, responsibility, and increased involvement in the current moment. Our relationship with our present experience can be transformed through use of these yogic principles.
